Yet again we are the other official Lanimer website, providing pictures of the celebrations that took place in Lanark, complimenting the main Lanimer site: www.lanarklanimers.co.uk , where you will see other photographs of the events that took place throughout the town during Lanimer week.

We were given a press photographers pass, which allowed us to take many more pictures of the Lanimers celebrations, including the procession, the crowning ceremony and the events in Castlebank Park, which w
as hosted in part by ourselves
.

This is the third of three photo galleries on our website for the Lanimers of 2008, where you can see some of the events that took place in Castlebank Park, including the very many stalls, floats, kids fun rides and the big marquee where some of Lanarkshire's finest silver and brass bands were performing. We also have photos of the people there who were in the park enjoying themselves in the sunny weather and were happy to pose for the camera, plus pictures of the the live bands that performed, including Gallas, the Mass Pipes & Drums (where several of Scotlands finest pipe bands get together and perform as one very big band) and the Johnny Cash tribute act Cashback (www.myspace.com/cashbacktribute ), plus some of the fun and entertainment that was had in the Kids Zone, including Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

For our worldwide visitors, Lanark Lanimers is one of Scotland's oldest festivals, which takes place annually in the town that was home to William Wallace, who was depicted by Mel Gibson in the movie "Braveheart." The Lanimers is celebrated for over a week, first with the "checking" of the town's boundaries as part of the Marches procession, followed by the highlight of the week, which is Lanimer Day on the Thursday after the first Saturday of June. This is effectively a public holiday for the people of the county and it is also one of Lanarkshire's largest festivals and outdoor events.

Thanks for having Your Party Night at the Lanimer Day Celebrations. Special thanks to Jim Masters, the Lanimer Committee and their dedicated team of volunteers and helpers who arranged the booking and took on the immense challenge of organising all the events on the day and also for providing us with a photographers pass.
